Packing List: Dominican Republic.

dominican-republic-what-to-pack

Tomorrow morning, my cousin Sarah and I head to the Dominican Republic for a little R&R and fun in the sun. I have been looking forward to this for so long. We are staying at The Gansevoort in Sosúa, and while a lot of our time will be spent laying by the pool + swimming at the beach, I’m really excited to spend a little bit of time exploring the island. I am going to try zip lining (despite being a total scaredy cat), and there is this hike through 27 waterfalls that I’m dying to try. And also, the monkey jungle. I kid you not, the monkey jungle is on my bucket list. All I want to do is meet a monkey. It’s really and truly just all I want.

I’m packing a suitcase filled with bikinis and breezy coverups (this is my absolute favorite!) And this hat, which is my just the absolute best… it makes me feel like Audrey Hepburn. A somewhat embarrassing thing to note… I actually had to work directly with Artesano to order a size 2XL. I originally bought just an XL… it arrived and just sat atop my massive head. A few phone calls (+ a few months) later, I finally had a hat that fit. The struggle. It’s real. Also in my suitcase? My favorite bracelet stack, of course!

I’m headed there in a month and cannot wait! I almost picked up this JCrew frock last night, but I’ve already bought way too much in anticipation of my trip. Have fun!

Do you have any suggestions for packing hats in a suitcase? I love my hats but have a hard time trying to bring them with me on vacation for fear that they will get smushed!

Oh girl… I wish I did! I usually just bring one hat with me, and wear it on the plane // put it on my lap or under the seat. It’s really annoying and I worry that I will smush it if I were to pack it in my suitcase.

I love the Dominican Republic… y’all will have such a wonderful time! I’m anxious to hear how your hotel is. Cute packing list – I wore the embroidered Madewell dress this week and I love the distressed jean shorts you picked out. I’m going to check them out! Have safe and fun travels!

Great post! Makes me want to run out the door to the beach!! I especially love those gold Birkenstocks – I got a black pair last year and now I’m thinking I need something metallic or patent.

I’VE DONE THE WATERFALLS!!! It’s awesome. Just a Warning – some of it’s a little scary. Not unsafe – just some of the pools are a little far, so it’s more than just “sliding”, there is some “jumping” feet first. Definitely exhilerating/a rush – there’s nothing like it. But it’s not like relaxing/wading.

Oh my gosh that sounds really scary! Thanks for letting me know. I’m kind of a scaredy cat so I might not do this.. 😉

Love your pack list! I’m a total hat person and I absolutely adore your big hat. Can I ask you how you travel with hats? I seem to destroy every hat I travel with. Do you use a hat box and then carry it on? Have a great trip!

hahaha, I wish I had a cool solution but a hat box seems so bulky! I just wear it on the plane. A huge pain but worth it? Sort of?
