Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

The year is 2006. I’ve just moved to New York and am working as an ABM (assistant brand manager; P&G had an acronym for everything!) for P&G’s prestige fragrance division. And this is my signature scent. It’s light and fresh, easy to wear, and perfect for my lifestyle as I go into an office every day. I work in the beauty industry, so fragrance is essential (it was during my time at P&G that I learned that fragrance is the final step of your outfit!), but it’s still the corporate world: I can’t be wearing something strong or distracting.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

I don’t know what it is (Oh IDK – could be the world, the news cycle, terrible things happening every day?). But lately I have found myself reaching for nostalgic scents… the perfumes I wore twenty years ago! There is something so comforting about that!

On a whim, I picked up a fresh bottle of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue maybe six months ago at Sephora, and have been surprised by how frequently I reach for it. I love it just as much as I did in my twenties. It’s fresh and citrusy with just a touch of woodsiness and florals. The notes that I always notice first are crisp green apple and bright Sicilian lemon, but it also has a nice soft base of amber and musk.

Besides the fact that it does smell very good (and is truly such an easy, everyday fragrance!), this scent feels very comforting to me. Fragrance is very transportive, and this takes me back to simpler days. Ah, nostalgia! Next time you’re in need of a little comfort, try reaching for an old favorite fragrance. I can’t recommend it enough.

    I love D&C Light Blue
I wear it every day and people often compliment me for how I smell. Interesting is that I dont smell it on myself when I wear it!!

I love this! My mom and grandmother have always worn perfume, and I started around the same time I started wearing a little makeup (maybe 7th grade?). I think Clinique Happy was my first bottle. I love the idea of returning to some old faves… Chanel Chance, Marc Jacobs Daisy, and Gucci Bamboo (my wedding scent!) all evoke different eras for me. Right now my every day go-to is Missing Person, which I think I actually found at your recommendation. 🙂
