I have piles and piles of old lace that have been in my family (see a few photos here.) I’ve been saving them for a special project, but am always terrified of using them for something that isn’t worth cutting the lace up for. Then, I saw this Venessa Arizaga necklace (which incidentally retails for $600.00.) I knew I had a use for my lace. Since making this necklace (it took about a half an hour) I’ve had a hard time taking it off. I absolutely love it. Besides looking great, it’s special to me as it incorporates a family heirlom. I realize that not everyone has a pile of old lace sitting around, so in the materials section below, I’ve linked to a few good options.

Wow. If there’s one DIY project I’m willing to follow through on, this is it. I just learned how to sew on a button two weeks ago though, and that’s been the extent of my experience with sewing. But this looks totally doable… I think I’m gonna do it!
Greetings from Miami, and thanks for the inspiration!
