DIY: Striped Tote Bag with Foley & Corinna

Foley-&-Corinna-Striped-Tote

Remember earlier this week I told you I had another DIY up my sleeve with my pals at Foley & Corinna?  Well today is part two.  They have these great canvas totes and I got to spruce one up a bit.  I wanted to do something that was easy and fun but still wouldn’t take away from how beautiful the bag is (it’s a classic!), so I added a classic stripe to each side and spruced it up with some hardware.  This one is super easy… a great beginner project!

Materials:  White Tote Bag // E6000 Glue // Two Large Hinges // Blue Fabric Paint

Sponge Tip Brush // Masking Tape or Painters Tape

Start by using masking tape to block off a stripe.

Bring your tape all the way around the bottom and up the other side.

Repeat 3x, so that you have four lines of tape, forming the borders of a stripe.

Tape off the top of your stripes just under the handle.

Using your brush, paint the area between your tape.

Allow to dry.

Apply E6000 glue to the back of your hinge…

And then add a hinge to the top of your stripe.

Allow to dry, and you are all done!

Any chance you know where we could find a bag similar but for under $20?

I am so obsessed with the hinges you added. That is a touch I would have never had thought to add to a DIY! xoxo
