DIY Metal Plate Necklace

We’ll call today’s project a mini-DIY, as it’s so simple + straightforward that I feel slightly guilty calling it a DIY!  I spotted these metal pieces at the hardware store (they’re actually called escutcheons) and all I could think was how pretty they would be, reinterpreted as a necklace.  I bought two of them.  One, I left gold… the other, I spray painted neon pink!  I’ve been wearing both constantly (you know this, if you follow my Instagram.)

What you’ll need:

Thread the escutcheon onto your jump ring.

Connect your chain, close the jump ring.

Attach your clasp to the opposite ends of the chain (using the remaining two jump rings.)

And voila, you are done!  (See why we call this a mini-DIY!?)

This is so brilliant. There’s nothing more satisfying than making something amazing out of  something so simple! Btw I was thinking about your blog this week. I met someone who manufactures the cutest childrens clothes and one of  the dresses was a combination of stripes and sequins. It was fabulous and I thought about you right way!!
