We’ll call today’s project a mini-DIY, as it’s so simple + straightforward that I feel slightly guilty calling it a DIY! I spotted these metal pieces at the hardware store (they’re actually called escutcheons) and all I could think was how pretty they would be, reinterpreted as a necklace. I bought two of them. One, I left gold… the other, I spray painted neon pink! I’ve been wearing both constantly (you know this, if you follow my Instagram.)
What you’ll need:
- Metal Escutcheon (I used this exact one.)
- Metal Chain
- 4 8mm Jump Rings
- Magnetic Clasp
- Optional – Neon Spray Paint (coat with white, first!)
Thread the escutcheon onto your jump ring.
Connect your chain, close the jump ring.
Attach your clasp to the opposite ends of the chain (using the remaining two jump rings.)
And voila, you are done! (See why we call this a mini-DIY!?)
Very cool! Will have to keep an eye out for these next time I’m poking around the hardware store 🙂
Yes, you definitely must – they are so fun. You can also buy the parts from the links above.
Absolutely LOVE this one…and it’s easy enough for me to do – yay! Will check out my local hardware store & see if I can find these! 🙂
Yay! I hope you try it. IF you can’t find the parts, I link to them above!

This is so brilliant. There’s nothing more satisfying than making something amazing out of something so simple! Btw I was thinking about your blog this week. I met someone who manufactures the cutest childrens clothes and one of the dresses was a combination of stripes and sequins. It was fabulous and I thought about you right way!!
