Fall is probably my favorite season to decorate for and I’m not kidding when I say that I’ve been excited about this project since last year. Last Fall, I went a little bit crazy glittering my pumpkins. Shortly after, my sister sent me a photo of the most gorgeous gold leaf pumpkins… but I’d already gone a little too crazy decorating… my boyfriend would have killed me if I’d added any more pumpkins to the mix. This year, I nixed glitter for gold leaf. The project is quick and easy but yields beautiful results… all you need is some Mod Podge and some gold leaf! On that note, can you believe Halloween is just a month away? I sure can’t.
{I’m so pleased with how they turned out… truly the perfect Fall decor!}
Materials: Gold Leaf // Mod Podge // Foam Applicator
- Start by applying a thin coat Mod Podge to everywhere that you want your gold leaf to go.
- Break off small pieces of gold leaf, and apply carefully… patting it down to adhere to the Mod Podge.
- Work carefully… the gold leaf is a bit delicate, but if you pat it gently, it will stick. Don’t worry about it breaking… the haphazard look adds texture and looks really pretty in the end.
- Allow to dry. (Go wash your hands… they’ll be covered in gold leaf and Mod Podge!)
- Once the first layer is dry, apply a second coat of Mod Podge to seal. Allow to dry, and proudly display.
Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Mod Podge. All opinions are my own and to be honest, I would have made this project regardless of compensation. Be sure to check them out on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
This is such a fun and cleaver way to dress up a pumpkin without cutting it up! Love it and now I want pumpkins 🙂

These are gorgeous Grace! I spray paint my pumpkins gold every year, but would love to try the leaf effect:)

LOVE!
So glad you like it! x
Well I see everywhere these gold leaf tutorials/DIYs…am I the only one thinking using gold leaf is very decadent especially only for short term decoration. What do you do with that afterwards, scratch it down and reuse it? After all it is still a precious metal and even if you use a small amount only and it comes cheap for us to buy, the harm for nature and people getting it to us is very big.
