DIY: Feather Hair Comb

As I might have mentioned a few times now, this New Year’s Eve, we went with a Great Gatsby theme.  I wore a very old dress from the twenties that I had found in my parents’ attic while I was home for the holidays.  In my hair, I wore the below comb, which I crafted from bits of feather trim (from last year’s NYE DIY project,) lace, and crystal trim.  I’m pretty thrilled with how it turned out and had to share it here.  It was such a fun New Year… I can’t wait to share more photos from the night a little later in the week!
What you’ll need:
Craft Wire (optional)
Full tutorial after the break.

Glue your feathers trim to the front of the comb.  Flip comb over and glue feathers to the underside of the comb.
Glue a piece of lace trim to the front of the comb.
Glue your rhinestone trim on…  I went with this triangular design… it was as art deco as I could get with the materials I had, but you could be more creative!

Voila – the finished results!  Optional – you can reinforce the feathers by weaving your craft wire through the needles of the comb and wrapping around the feather trim.

Just for fun, I thought I would share the shoes I did for the boyfriend.  We take our costume parties very seriously… he’d been on a crazy search for the perfect two-tone shoes and couldn’t find them anywhere.  A few coats of paint later, I updated this pair and his outfit was complete.
