DIY: Chain Strap Swarovski Embellished PVC Clutch

CLEARBAG_2You might be able to tell (from here and here) that I’m really into clear pieces right now.  And so is everyone else.  It’s modern, chic, and PVC + lucite just look so good with crystals and embellishment.  I’ve seen so many incredible DIY PVC clutches throughout the blogsophere (most notably by Aimee, here and here) but after seeing this pin and this Shourouk bag, I wanted something with a chain strap.  When constructing my bag, I copied the way the grommets lay on my Chanel bag, which I love – that way, the bag can be worn with the chain long or doubled up.

Clear-Pouch---Materials

Materials/Where to buy:  Clear clutch (you could make this but Etsy has so many good ones) // Grommet Kit // Four 1/2 inch Grommets // Assorted Swarovski Crystals // E6000 Glue // About 36 inches of brass curb chain // Pliers // Jump Ring // Hammer

Gorgeous! One of my favorites… the chain is so good on this, and the embellishments also take the focus a bit away from what’s inside so it’s a good balance. Love it, Grace.

What is the measurement of the chain?

    Brass Curb Chain – 0.062″
    Brass Curb Chain – 0.094″
    Brass Curb Chain – 0.129″

    ??

      I’d use a larger size… the .129″

Love this bag! You were so clever with the strap. The toughest thing I encounter when following DIY or creating at home is sourcing really pretty chain. Suggestions? xo

This is so awesome. Pinning this so I can make myself one, but I may use paint for splatter effect rather than crystals for more of a rocker look!
