My pinboards are full of street style photos of girls wearing the coolest minimalist outfits. Denim on denim with a cool pair of Vans. So many white button downs, slouchy jeans, classic ray-bans, and minimal jewelry. This is the sort of style I aspire to, except for two things: 1) I am not built like those street style gals… and 2) When I’m out shopping, I always go for more feminine pieces… a-line dresses, lots of blush, and pretty pumps.
So I’m going to try and focus on attempting a few more minimalist pieces to my closet. Everything here is so sleek and cool… I’m tempted to add a few to my closet (especially this top and this coat).

ha i’m so glad i’m not the only one who struggles with this! my pinterest style board has tons of more streamlined looks in a minimal—or tone on tone—palette. and then when i shop, i’m all about the statement pump, bold print skirt, or detailed top. love your picks…think they’ll work well with some of your feminine pieces.

I would love to see your take on cool-girl/minimalist style, especially given your tendency towards feminine pieces. I’ve always loved seeing pretty dresses paired with sneaks or girly tops paired with ripped jeans and rocker boots and I’m sure you’ll come up with something chic and fun.

A heads up that I saw a similar denim blouse I think on Forever 21 and just ordered a short sleeve denim (no fray though) on F21; similar vibe for $20.. can’t beat it!
