It started with this Draper James dress. I saw it on Reese Witherspoon’s instagram (here) and dashed over to Draper James to buy it. It was everything I was looking for… bright yellow (so good on blondes) in a tailored silhouette. Sadly they only had a size 10 left, but I bought it anyway and am going to have it taken in a bit. The dress inspired today’s round-up of vibrant yellow pieces. I realize yellow is not for everyone, but I think it’s really about finding the shade that works best for you. I personally prefer a lemony yellow… even chartreuse… over mustard. Mustard yellow is horrible on me but it looks amazing on my brunette sister. If you have pale skin and blonde hair, it will look great. And brunettes can pull it off well depending upon skin tone… (rosy undertones, yes…. olive might be harder).

In terms of how to wear it, I personally love yellow paired with other brights (like this hot pink coat – I’m definitely having a Draper James moment right now), with white jeans, or with camel + taupe. You also can’t go wrong with denim. The dresses above would look so cute layered under a denim jacket… or you could pair any of the tops with a cute denim skirt or skinny jeans. You can probably expect to see more yellow in these parts… I can’t get enough!

I am ALL about this shade of yellow right now. Maybe it’s the ’70s inspiration or the beginning of spring, but it’s just hitting all the right notes for me. Now all I want to do is rush to the craft store so I can pick up some neon yellow spray paint and update some of my old rhinestone earrings a la J.Crew. Thanks for the inspo!

These are all so fun and sunny! I have a hard time wearing yellow so will usually just stick to shoes or a bag.

Love the lemon yellow! I was just thinking about how there is a pineapple print trend going on, and yellow too! Such a fun collage!
