Cocktail Hour: Healthy(ish) Berry Margarita.

cocktail hour healthy berry margarita2

Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo! If you are a regular reader in these parts then you probably know two things: First, I am very health and wellness focused. I try to eat as clean as possible and work out quite a bit. Second, I never shy away from a good cocktail. For today’s cocktail hour, I wanted to do a margarita that would be as healthy as humanly possible… without sacrificing flavor, of course. They’re a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, and not too far off from a (spiked) smoothie.

It took me a few different iterations but the end result is SO yummy, packed with antioxidants + fiber since you use the whole lime, and also super easy to make (you literally just throw everything into a high-powered blender and blend on high.) I like to think that if Gwyneth were drinking a margarita today, it would be this one.

Hope you love it as much as I do! And in the meantime, a few other Cinco de Mayo recipes for you: a passionfruit margarita, a fresh ginger margarita, and (my personal go-to) the classic paloma. Yum.

In a blender combine the following ingredients… (serves two!)

  • Two whole limes, peeled.
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup frozen berries
  • 3 oz. Tequila
  • 2 tsp. coconut sugar
  • one or two ice cubes

Blend on high for 30-60 seconds.

Garnish with a lime wedge and/or salt… done!

I am POSITIVE that Gwyneth would be drinking this margarita. Your blender is so cute! Everything is better with tequila, even a smoothie!
