Clap When You Land review

Clap When You Land

I am so excited to share this month’s Bad on Paper book club pick! (If you are newer here, Bad on Paper is the podcast I host with my friend Becca.)

This month’s book selection is Clap When You Land, by Elizabeth Acevedo. I loved this book SO much and it’s such a fun read. It’s a bit longer but the structure of the book (it’s written in verses but still prose if that makes any sense) makes it a quick read. Quick, but powerful. Acevedo has been one of my favorite writers for a long time now and this did not disappoint.

The general premise:

Two teenage girls (in New York and the Dominican Republic) share a father but don’t learn of each other until their father dies in a car crash. It’s incredibly sad but also incredibly heartwarming.

You can buy the book here, and peruse previous Bad on Paper book club picks here!

Be sure to tune into this month’s book club episode: we talk about The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires which is such a fun (albeit GORY) read and led to fun conversations about book clubs, other vampire books, and more!

Lastly on the books front, check out my recently updated book Book Club page – it’s the perfect way to find your next book. Everything I’ve read in the past 5-6 years is there, and you can sort by grade AND genre. I’m really proud of it… along with the beauty hub I think it’s my favorite part of the site!
