I’ve been really working this summer to simplify + streamline my style a bit. My goal has been to focus on adding only core staples to my wardrobe that I can wear over and over again. I first bought the chambray version of this top (see it in action here) and found myself shocked by how much I wore it. With jeans is the obvious choice, but it also tucks quite nicely into skirts and is really cute paired with cut-offs and flat sandals. This is basically going to be my new version of jeans and a tee. It’s slightly more polished but just as comfortable (no worrying about having a big lunch with this top… it hides all sins!)
I really like how an off the shoulder top looks paired with a bandana. I bought this silk one at Intermix and it’s pretty perfect. I personally find a silky scarf to be a little more manageable than a cotton bandana (it’s less bulky) but Urban Outfitters has the best selection of bandanas right this way.
I hope you guys are having a great week. Last night I got to attend an advance screening of The Light Between Oceans (opening Friday). It was so incredibly sad. I read the book over the weekend so that I would be prepared (I mean, you can never see the movie before reading the book!) and cried my eyes out. And then I cried my eyes out again. It had an all star cast (Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Rachel Weisz) – highly recommend!
PS – if you are looking for a less expensive version of this top, this one (while navy blue) is a dead ringer!

Aw thank you Natalie! xx
I just watched the trailer for The Light Between Oceans and it definitely seems sad. I don’t mind movies that are sad but I definitely will only watch them if I know there’s a happy ending. Like, I hate when people make romance movies where the couple doesn’t end up together (500 Days of Summer) or someone dies (PS: I Love You). I DO like Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikrander so in terms of acting, it does seem promising! We’ll see…

It’s really sad. The ending is sweet (you definitely get closure) but it’s still just so sad. The cast is amazing, I would definitely recommend it 🙂
I adore that top!!
Thank you so much, Erin! xx
I would have never thought to pair that bandana with leopard print, but they go together so perfectly!
I’ve been waiting for “The Light Between Oceans” for a while now as I’m a big fan of both Weisz and Fassbender, but I had no idea it was a book! Have to run out and get that pronto!

Thank you! I think both accessories are neutral (ish — you have to pair them with more plain clothing) so they mix well.
Oh wow- definitely read the book! I did something nerdy… I read the entire book in a day (on Sunday) before last night’s screening. I like to always (if possible) read the book before seeing the movie… but I know everyone’s different. Pick it up if you can! xx
Loving the pairing of the scarf and off the shoulder look! Too cute 🙂
I’ve been really eager to see the movie.. but just the trailer itself is heartbreaking. The cast is so perfect so it’s great to hear that you loved the film!
I’m always so scared to read the book before a film! I mean you know for the most part that the book will always be better, but even a great movie can let you down because of the book.
Thanks for the recommendation, Grace! I love hearing updates on what you’ve read/seen 🙂
Thank you so much.
I’m glad you enjoy the recommendations – I’m so into both film + books, I love sharing them here. I agree that the trailer is very heartbreaking. It’s a great cast though… and the film (while sad) is beautiful. I hope you decide to go see it!! Xx
My favorite top! Looks great on you.
