Calypso Escape.

When I think of vacation clothing, I always think of Calypso, which is why I was so excited when they offered to send over a few pieces for my recent trip to Charleston. I’ve long been a big fan of the brand (evidence of that can be found here!) as the brand has the loveliest silk dresses (and the most exquisite fabric treatments — luxe embroidery, tassels, metallic trims, and even little coins + crochet details.) I’m a sucker for pretty details.

Today I’ve styled three different looks. Style is a bit of an overstatement as Calypso’s pieces don’t really require much styling. As a general rule, they stand alone… letting you keep the rest of your look very simple.

And Charleston is one of my favorite cities in the country. Ever since my last trip, I’ve dreamed about going back. If I had to choose a favorite thing about the city, it would be the people (everyone I’ve met has been so incredibly warm and lovely) followed by the food (the best… the food scene rivals that of New York.) While I love New York too much to consider moving anytime soon, I’m so happy that it’s just a 90 minute flight. So. easy.

Read on for photos from my trip… but before you do anything – head to Instagram! You could win a $1,000 shopping spree at Calypso!

We took these photos in the courtyard of our hotel (The Planters Inn) prior to an incredible dinner at FIG. I could not believe that it was warm enough to go sleeveless… we were so lucky!

I’m wearing Calypso’s new Batinly Dress. I love this dress because of the way it makes me feel… like I could twirl and dance all night. I hope the photos convey this… but the dress is pure fun. You’ll put it on and just want to play in it. I love that it has a v-neck, too… so much more flattering than a higher neckline would be.

We shot my second look walking along the ocean after brunch. We’d just had a seriously yummy (and filling) meal at The Park Cafe and decided that a long walk was in order… this was just the thing, and it was gorgeous out. We wandered along the ocean and then through downtown historic Charleston (through Rainbow Row and along Church Street.)

This chevron tunic is positively exquisite. The photos don’t do it justice. The fabric glistens and shines… it’s like wearing jewelry. There are no words for how pretty it is. And with all Calypso pieces, the details are great — but especially so, here. Tassels at the neckline + a cool fringe trim (with oversized sequins that look like coins) make this a standout. I wore it with skinny jeans here but it will be cute in the summer with white jeans or shorts.

Lastly, there’s this embroidered dress. We’d just eaten (do you see a pattern here?) a delicious brunch at Husk (fried chicken, pimento cheese… bliss!) and were wandering around the city market near our hotel.

It was important to me that we got some close up shots as the embroidery on this dress is incredible — I think it’s actually cross-stitch. Also, the tassels have the prettiest seed beads at the ends. It’s so lovely on, and the perfectly bohemian look. I wore it with tights and boots as it’s still February but could see myself throwing it on over a bikini or wearing it with flat gold sandals once the temperatures warm up!
