Heat Wave!

Oh man… it is hot outside! Lydia and I shot these photos last week in the middle of the worst heat wave (which seems to be still going strong!!) You can find me hibernating in my air conditioned, ice box of a studio apartment until further notice. It’s bad out there! Last night I managed to escape my apartment (and going stir crazy) for a little bit… one of my best friends and I ventured down to The Box (always an experience!!) for the unveiling of Flirt Cosmetics – a new beauty brand from Estée Lauder. I’m super intrigued by it. The brand is ecommerce only and they’re starting with just one product (billed, a staple gun for your lashes minus the staples and the gun). Donald Robertson is the creative director and Amber Rose is the face. Definitely a big departure for Lauder! I took home a sample and will be sure to let you guys know what I think.

But anyway. I love this little white dress. I bought it last summer but tracked down some similar little white dresses for you here, here, here, here, and here. I just love a good cold shoulder dress. Donna Karan once said, “You’re never going to gain weight on your shoulders. You could expose your shoulder and be fine. Guaranteed: I have never seen a fat shoulder.” which only made my love for the cold shoulder silhouette even stronger.

All of my jewelry is from Flaca. I talk a bit more about the brand (and the amazing designer Amy) below, but they are definitely one to know… such fun stuff, all made locally here in New York.

Outfit Details: Topshop Dress (old – last seen here, similar options here, here, here, here, and here) // Flaca Jewelry (c/o, details below) // Lace Up Sandals // Chloe Bag

Flaca has been one of my favorite designers for a long time now. I first became a fan of the brand because of their organic crystal pieces (helllllo, this necklace!!!) but since then they’ve come out with the prettiest fringe + tassel pieces and more classic all metal pieces. Both are perfect for everyday wear but will also elevate your look, giving it that extra something special. The designer is Amy Shepsman and she is quickly becoming the “queen of the tassel,” if you ask me. Her stuff is fun and different, and born from her desire to find great jewelry that is still accessibly priced. I personally love that everything is hand-made in New York (her studio is in Brooklyn).. The pieces are of the highest quality, but still very reasonably priced. Out of everything I’m wearing today, this choker is my favorite. You can’t tell from the photos, but the wire is actually square shaped, which gives it a really unique linear twist. It’s perfect layered (with pretty much everything), or on its own. Flaca is definitely one to watch. But don’t take my word for it… Dakota Johnson (featured here, in Vogue) is also a fan!

It’s really funny – I looked back on the last post where I wore this dress (here) and was wearing Flaca jewelry in that post, too! I guess there’s just something about this dress and Flaca… a great team. 😉

I’m totally loving all of your jewellery! You’re looking drop dead gorgeous in this simple and summery outfit. 🙂 Heat wave is not nice, but I’d take it any time over rainy, cloudy and really chilly days which I’m having in my city… So not ready for the Summer to be over yet.
