Earlier this month, I worked on a project with OKA, creating a beautiful blue & white tablescape around their Kraak china. I really lucked out in this case, I had been in the market for a set of blue and white china, and when I spotted theirs, I fell in love. The crisp pattern is a near-exact replica of Ming-and Quing-period pottery. As I am using it, I sometimes have to remind myself that I am not using an ancient heirloom and that it’s actually new.
Today I wanted to share my blue and white tablescape, a few other options I love, plus the basics (like my favorite white plates) I like to swap in to mix and match. I’m also sharing a few other fun tablescape ideas that we can use as inspiration for future dinner parties. All so very perfect for this time of year; blue & white makes for a beautiful summer tablescape. My dining table can seat up to twelve; I am hankering to have another fun dinner very soon!
For my own tablescape, I layered everything over a white table cloth. I skipped a salad plates in favor of bowls (just as easy for salad; or soup… my favorite!), and I added rattan chargers and tortoise flatware to add a little bit of interest.
PS: More tablescape ideas for everyday.

5 Blue and white tablescape ideas
Besides my own little table, here are four more tablescapes to get you inspired.
Use ginger jars as centerpieces
I feel silly admitting this but I’d never really thought to take my ginger jars off the shelf and put them on the table. Peacock Ridge Farm accomplished this beautifully. I love that she also incorporated a bit of greenery! I love the layered plates, too. Those salad plates are gorgeous.
mix and match patterns
I had thought that I should use a white tablecloth to highlight my blue & white china. I love this tablescape by Mark D. Sikes; the wavy stripes work so well with the block print napkins and floral china.
Try mixing in shibori
I love shibori and indigo dying but had thought it was too bohemian until seeing it in action here on 100 Layer Cake. The simplicity of the white tablecloth and simple greenery arrangements works so well with the shibori table runner!
Keep it simple!
I love this very simple, casual blue & white table setting from Stripes & Whimsy. Simple stripes, bamboo cuttlery, a white dinner plate, rattan accents… (I’d add rattan napkin rings) done! This would also be great for just a smaller dinner or lunch for friends and family, it’s easy and very pretty.

I love all of these options and the pictures- ahhh! Blue & white dishes are timeless and classic I bought blue & white plates from Amazon for a tea party I threw for some friends a few months ago and then just switched to using them as my everyday plates bc they’re too pretty to sit in my cabinets untouched until another special occasion, ha! I just found the matching bowls and will add those to my collection soon!
Agree that they are so pretty and timeless. I’ve been using my OKA bowls as my everyday bowls, they were too pretty to put away!
