Let’s talk about denim. I don’t know about you, but my girlfriends and I get a little evangelical when it comes to our denim. But can you blame us? Finding that perfect pair of jeans, or better yet, that brand that works best for your body type is a total wardrobe game changer. My personal favorites are Rag & Bone, 7 for All Mankind, and J Brand, but I’m always trying other brands… just to see. When it comes to cut + color, I typically favor a skinny leg in darker blue and I like them to hit right at the ankle so that just a sliver of skin is exposed above my boots. I find that to be the most flattering silhouette on my body, and it works well with my (chaotic around this time of year) lifestyle… I’ll throw on a longer top, a blazer, and ankle boots or pumps and I’m ready to go.
If I’m not wearing skinny jeans, it’s boyfriend jeans. I know they aren’t the most flattering, but they sure are comfy… and on some days, comfort just comes first. (Sidenote: this is the most flattering pair of boyfriend jeans I’ve ever seen… and I kinda love that they are dark and aren’t distressed – it’s unexpected.) My favorite place to buy my denim is always Nordstrom, as they have the best selection of styles (and their return policy makes shopping a breeze if you aren’t sure on sizes.)
Lastly, I really love a great pair of black jeans. They’re incredibly flattering, and supremely easy to wear. I love going all black, or pairing black denim with a crisp white blouse. This year, I bought this pair of ripped up black J Brands which is a departure for me but I really love them.. a little more edgy than usual. For something more classic, I also love this pair from Paige Denim as it is that perfect ankle length that I love so much.

Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post.
Can never have enough denim! Great roundup!

Have you tried AYR denim yet? They’re the same designers from Madewell and they come in more extensive inseam lengths (down to 26″) which really helps with getting that cuff to hit just right.
I am actually on the hunt for the new perfect pair of jeans! I love the fit of my J.Crew toothpicks with a hint of stretch, but the ankle isn’t skinny enough which actually makes them a little awkward with boots.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good pair of black jeans for the winter. Thank you so much for the brand and item suggestions. These are a bit out of my price range. Do you have any black jean suggestions that are under $100. I’m not looking to go super cheap. I still want quality but I can’t afford over $100 on a pair of jeans right now. Love your style and would appreciate your input.

Hi Liz!
Thank you so much for your comment and the question 🙂
There are so many good pairs.
First of all, I haven’t tried Treasure & Bond’s denim but I have a leather jacket from them and the quality is fantastic. I saw these jeans and they look exactly like the pair of J.Brand ripped jeans that I just got… http://bit.ly/1tSgfB0
Also, I love J Brand and saw that these are on sale at Off Saks right now: http://bit.ly/1oE911w
Don’t discount the Gap… I love their legging jeans and the price is right: http://bit.ly/1FMEaVJ
And lastly, Old Navy. I really like their jeans and the price is always right (great for trendier styles.) So many black jeans here: http://bit.ly/1wvKU3T
but my fave is always the Rockstar cut: http://bit.ly/1okVrJ3 And I also love the zipper on these! http://bit.ly/1ywt960 If you go the Old Navy route I recommend trying on in store if possible as the sizing can be inconsistent… but the value is so great that it’s worth it!
Let me know what you think 🙂 happy to look for more options!
Hi! I was looking at your posts (it’s my first time here in your blog!) and you look amazing! I was wondering if you have any tips on how to wear boyfriend jeans? Do you usually go for a slimmer top since the jeans are already “baggy” or it doesn’t really matter? I’m not that much of a “risk taker” in fashion so I was thinking you might help me! Thank you!
Hi Carolina!
Thank you for visiting (and for taking the time to comment here!) Yes, I usually try to go with something slimmer up top. I like a v-neck t-shirt with a long slim cut, personally… or I’ll do a fitted stripe t-shirt. I occasionally will wear a baggier tee up top but if I do then I always wear heels! I hope that is helpful, please let me know if you have any more questions!! (And thanks again for stopping by my site!)
