Beauty: Spring Glow Guide!

Today I wanted to highlight six products (+ one amazing lipstick) that will have your skin glowing for Spring. There are a lot of beauty trends out there but in my opinion the best one is dewy, glowing skin. And Nordstrom is the best place to get your glow on… their selection of beauty products is top notch (and their speedy shipping + fab return policy make it easy to shop)! I always stalk their beauty trends pages to learn about new products I want to write about and was v. v. excited to see they had an entire section dedicated to highlighters. YES. Here’s the thing though – not all highlighters are created equal, and different highlighting products can be used in different ways. I’m making this sound confusing but I promise you – it’s not!

First up – what I like to call “base glow.” This is your first step after your regular moisturizer (but before foundation or tinted moisturizer, if you use that!) Two products that I tried and really loved are Sisley Paris Instant Glow Primer and Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator. You don’t need them both but each will leave your skin just a little bit glowy and ready for the next step. Both products veer closer toward skincare than actual makeup as they’re packed with good for you ingredients, but they’re also loaded with light reflecting particles to get you glowing! Sisley’s Primer is almost white in color, but leaves behind a really pretty golden glow. The Kiehl’s Moisturizer is a little bit more subtle… it’s the same color as my skin and sinks right in. I would definitely recommend this one for those of you who are scared of looking TOO glowy… I think you’ll find this gives just the right amount!

After foundation/concealer (if you use them), apply Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. Honestly if you buy one product from my recommendations, get this. It’s so good… it makes skin look so pretty and luminous. My shade is 2-Light. Charlotte was inspired by social media filters when she created this – it really does make you look as if you have the pretty filter on from Snapchat. You can use it a million ways (under or over foundation, as a highlighter), or what I do… ALL OVER. It’s not that dramatic and makes you look so pretty.

And after that, you will want to fine tune your glow with a more traditional highlighter. Dot on RMS Beauty Magic Highlighter (the best clean highlighter I’ve tried) OR Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (one of my all-time favorite products – if you’ve been reading here a while you know I LOVE IT). I apply highlighter to my brow bone + temples, down the bridge of my nose, inner corners of eyes… basically anywhere you want to catch the light. And I’m not above a little shoulder + collarbone strobing… just be sure to blend thoroughly!

The last product for face is NARS Highlighting Powder in St. Barths. This bronzer is GORGEOUS and shimmery – perfect for summer. I dust this all over my face and body when I have a tan.

And since we were talking about spring/summer beauty… your skin is the focus here so everything else should be simple. Full brows, a little lash, and… you need a pretty nude lip! The best, most perfect nude/rosy lipstick I’ve ever tried is Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in Pillowtalk (the liner is awesome too). It looks like my own lip color just a little bit better. This is one of those products that all of my girlfriends have too and as different as we all look, it looks good on everyone. Instant favorite.

That about sums it up! If you are confused about where to apply highlighter, I did film a little Youtube video a while back with tips + tricks (the BECCA perfector and RMS are both front and center!) so that will be helpful too!

What beauty trends are you most excited about this season!?

For the record – I don’t delete comments, even the mean ones. I am however, just one person, and have been without wifi the past 24 hours so was a bit late to approvals + replies.

This is a great guide! Question – sorry if you’ve already posted this elsewhere – but where is your leather catch-all in the last two pictures from? I love it!

Such a good post! I love that Charlotte Tilbury magic filter situation too, and the Pillowtalk lip has been in my cart — I’ve heard from multiple people that it’s an awesome neutral. Must get it — I always love a good Nordstrom order.

Did you really delete my comment asking where the leather tray was from? I am not sure how that is an offensive comment but you just lost a reader.

Hi! I know I’m late to this glowy spring makeup post, but I just bought Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter and I’m unsure how to use it. When you say you use it all over, what do you mean? Do you mix it with foundation? Thanks!

      Hi Deborah!
I put it under my makeup if I use it everywhere, or I paint it on like highlighter. Don’t overthink it, just have fun and add/subtract based on how much glow you want.
