Beauty Fix: Combatting Winter Skin

winterskin

I don’t know about you, but this time of year is when my skin becomes itchy, dry, and just plain difficult.  Despite my best moisturizing efforts, I still wind up with skin that feels dry and tight.

There are a few tricks I’ve learned to help make this season a bit easier on my skin.  First of all, as tempted as I may be to take a scorching hot shower, I try to keep the water lukewarm.  Secondly, I use a creamy body wash… absolutely love this one.  Lastly, exfoliating is absolutely critical.  I use my Clarisonic every other day on my face (my skin is really sensitive and can’t handle any more than that) and I use this scrub a few times a week.  Both get the job done incredibly well.

Lastly, I rely on a great body cream.  Here are a handful of my favorites.

Fresh Seaberry Restorative Body Cream // Caudalie Vine Body Butter // Plain Old Coconut Oil  // Burt’s Bees Chapstick (I have one in every purse, one at each desk, one  in my nightstand… pretty much everywhere.) // Smith’s Rosebud Salve //  Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Lotion // Earth tu Face Skin Stick (new favorite!) // MoroccanOil Intense Hydrating Treatment  (a thick, creamy oil – like Vaseline but much fancier.)

I always use Aquaphor when it’s cold but I’m almost out. Maybe I should try that stick and the Moroccan Oil Lotion!! Great picks xoxo

That Seaberry lotion is so fabulous. Love the smell and amazing hydration without being too heavy.

I have this issue too. I, however, don’t like the smell of coconut so I only use that on my hair. That way I can wash it out after an hour or so. I use aquaphor for everything else 🙂

I think I need to try some of these products! I have dry skin year round and nothing seems to help! I do use and love the Burt’s Bee lip balm. I stash them everywhere too!

I’ve been looking for a new body lotion and I think I might just have to check out the Fresh brand (I’m a devotee of their Sugar lip balm)!

Rosebud salve is a must for me–besides lips, it also saves my cuticles from certain death every day. I really have to get around to trying coconut oil–everyone raves about it!
