Beauty Adventures: Cecilia Wong Skincare’s Oxygen Facial

Last Thursday, I ventured over to Cecilia Wong Skincare, to try her Oxygen Facial.  It was such a treat.  Although it took me a bit to find her (the salon is actually in an office building, on the 13th floor,) every minute of the treatment was 100% heaven.

The treatment itself was amazing and thorough.  She started by examining my skin under a UV light, and from there we were off.  I laid on the cushy table while she cleansed my skin with the most delicious smelling cleanser (it smelled like orange blossoms.)  Somewhere in there, I had an exfoliating peel, a mask, and a heavenly facial massage.  I could practically feel the puffiness draining from my face.  Her extractions were perfectly executed, and having my skin misted with oxygen was also kind of awesome…  (learn all about the benefits of oxygen here.)  I left with gorgeous, glowing skin.

One of the most wonderful things about her salon is that she uses only organic, holistic products… either from her own line, from Jurlique, or a few other niche brands that she’s discovered.  No harsh chemicals or additives – everything is all natural.

After my treatment, I had the chance to ask her a couple questions…

(Cecilia, pictured with a few products from her line.)

What are the three most important things that women in their twenties/early thirties should do to take care of their skin (besides using a daily sunscreen?)

  1. Exfoliate!  Exfoliating is key – it’s the most important thing you can do.  It helps to promote cell turnover and dullness.  Exfoliate 2-3 times a week, depending on your skin type.  (Acne prone skin types should exfoliate less.)
  2. Use a mask!  We don’t always have the time, but it changes skin dramatically.  10-15 minutes; 2-3 times a week.  Use a hydration mask during the winter…  and for acne, use an herbal mask.  This will help balance and heal the skin.  (A clay mask draws out the impurities but you still need to extract them afterward… an herbal mask does a better job getting to the root cause and fixing the problem.)
  3. Use a toner.  She recommends carrying one with you, especially during the summer.  Use an alcohol-free version and spray your face 3-4x a day.  It will help to both cleanse and hydrate the skin.

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?

A mask.  Besides the ones from her own collection, she’s obsessed with Ilike’s 7 Herb mask.  It’s made in Hungary, and it’s all organic.  The company grows their own herbs – it’s very fresh, with no chemicals, but extremely effective.  She swears by it for oily skin and has used it for over ten years!
