Today we are drawing a little inspiration from one of the most glamorous places I can think of: The Beverly Hills Hotel. I stayed there once, years and years ago… and I’ll never forget it. The iconic dusty pink buildings, the striped ceiling, and of course: the banana leaf print wallpaper that has become iconic to the hotel.
That famous wallpaper has a name… Martinique, and it was created specially for The Beverly Hills Hotel (aka the Pink Palace) in 1942 by decorator Don Loper. Today, it’s become one of the most recognizable wallpapers in the world. You can purchase it here… or why not try the fabric by the yard and get crafty?
Lucky for us, banana palm leaf prints are all over the place and you can easily incorporate this pattern in your home, wardrobe, or even at the beach. If you follow me on snapchat (I’m grace.atwood) then you know about my banana leaf pants obsession. H&M had this amazing gauze pair last year and I finally tracked them down for $15 on ebay (here!) I can’t wait to wear them at the beach with a bikini and a little white tank top. I might have gone overboard… after tracking down the pants, I also sprang for this bikini. Also, sorry for including the Dolce & Gabbana dress. in the roundup. It certainly isn’t in my budget… but I mean come on, it is pretty epic! (If you’ve seen a more affordable version, let me know… I’ll include a link to it!)
