Adding a Little Edge

jacket // dress // sandals

My own personal style is pretty girly and feminine. Lots of dresses, lots of pastels and florals… and I definitely love my ruffles. Sometimes though, I want to add a little edge to my wardrobe. My (cooler than me) fashion friends have been wearing lots of fun bomber jackets and vintage cargo jackets with chic embellishment and patches, which I really love. I thought to myself, what a wonderful way an embellished cargo jacket would be to add a little edge/cool-girl-factor to some of my more feminine pieces, like this ruffled Sandro dress. And I have to say, I kind of love it! The dress on its own is very pretty and sweet, but the jacket lends a more casual vibe – perfect for running around the city or meeting a friend for lunch.

It’s important to me that everything in my closet be able to mix and match with other pieces I own. This dress could just as easily be paired with a more feminine jacket like this pale pink trench (and high heels) and the jacket is pretty much the perfect topper for everything… from girly pieces to cut-off shorts and a graphic tee.

Something you may not know is that Bloomingdale’s has a ton of incredible, exclusive product from so many of my favorite designers… think Sandro, Alice & Olivia, Parker, Cooper & Ella, Paige, JOA, and more. (Everything I am wearing in this post is available exclusively at Bloomingdale’s, actually!) The women’s assortment is pretty fantastic. From statement tops (Spring’s biggest trend, it seems… I love this one and this ruffled one-shoulder number) to pretty dresses (this one from Lucy Paris is so cute – it’s an amazing price and would also happen to look fantastic under my cargo jacket), there are so many cute pieces.

And for my beauty junkies, they also have several fantastic beauty exclusives… from perfumes you can’t buy anywhere else to this Bobbi Brown eye set (it has pretty much everything you need!) and this Charlotte Tilbury lipstick (her neutrals are the best).

Created in partnership with Bloomingdale’s and POPSUGAR.

Cute look, love the contrasting feminine and edgier pieces. I’ve been searching for a cargo jacket myself high and low for ages!

The dress is gorgeous, the ruffles are so so pretty! And it looks amazing with that jacket. Isn’t it so much fun to mix styles and wear something that we wouldn’t normally wear? I love to do it even though I still love my bright colours and my feminine pieces.

I love that dress. It’s so cute and looks really flattering on you. I love that blue color it looks great on a lot people because of the undertones. And I’ve seen versions of it that are even a little more muddied for people with a bit more yellow in their skin tone. Great choice 🙂
