A visit to Lulu Frost

Blogging has opened me up to some very cool opportunities.  One that tops the list was a visit to Lulu Frost’s showroom.  I’ve been a longtime admirer of Lisa Salzer’s vintage-inspired / eclectic baubles, and at one point we lived in the same apartment building… but we’d never actually met.  And as a DIYer, I love that she got her start by transforming vintage/estate jewels into modern, wearable pieces.  We set down for some wine and got to talking – all the while ogling all of her beautiful jewels.  I have to say, Lisa is as lovely as one could imagine.  So fun to chat with… and down to earth.  You’d never know she has a jewelry empire + collection with J.Crew.  I could have stayed all night drinking wine and playing with sparkly jewels… but alas, we had to part ways.  I have a feeling this is the beginning of a (sparkly) new friendship!

A few of the pieces from the Fall 2012 “Power” Collection.  These pieces were awe inspiring.  My camera phone photos don’t do them justice, so you’ll have to take my word for it.  The chain on the botom left necklace is inspired by a 1940’s watchband.

I ended up buying the lion.  I just needed him in my life.

These necklaces are from the Spring 2013 collection. So bold and just plain fun.  I don’t think this was her intention, but the pink + yellow pendants remind me of oversized Christmas lights.

The pink one is at the top of my wish list.

Yep, this is how necklace layering is done.

I’ve seen evil eyes… but these are far and away the best.  The attention to detail in the iris is incredible.

A treasure trove full of vintage brooches + jewels… aka heaven!

I know, the layers are just so good! I like these eyes even better than DANNIJO’s (love them, too) – these are just a little bit more sparkly! I haven’t ever seen anything like that Lion necklace – will have to check out Anthropologie!!
