A Visit from the Nail Gypsy

When I’m really stressed, taking the time to do little things for myself… getting a manicure, blow-out, or spray tan… can feel like a chore.  It’s silly, as these things are meant to be relaxing and should be considered an indulgence.  I for one, feel so much better once my nails are done.  The problem is that actually leaving the office or apartment, and getting to the salon, can feel overwhelming.

This week, I was treated to a visit from The Nail Gypsy.  The Nail Gypsy is a traveling service.  They come to you, set up shop in your home and/or apartment, and give you a (pretty awesome) manicure and/or pedicure.

I poured myself a glass of wine and sank into my comfy sofa as my technician Kuniko transformed my coffee table into an at home spa.  She filed and painted my nails to perfection (using CND’s Shellac in Black Pool.)  After my nails had cured, she exfoliated my hands with a delicious smelling lavender salt scrub.  From there, I rinsed off and she hand-mixed a treatment masque (using neroli oil, honey, and aloe vera,) and put my placed my hands into two heated pockets.  After about 15 minutes, she treated me to an incredible hand massage.  I was in absolute heaven.

Four days later, my nails are still perfect (see above evidence,) save for one tiny chip (the casualty of a very aggressive rummage through my bag to find my keys.)  I should also note that this is my first experience with Shellac, and I am loving it so far.

Nail Gypsy is probably not something you do every week, but it’s an amazing way to treat yourself after a crazy busy/stressful week.  It would also make a fantastic holiday gift for that overworked friend!
