Every month, I share my favorite things with you. I’ve decided to switch things up a bit in the New Year and share more frequent updates on my favorite things. Sometimes I just feel like because I feature so many things every month, I can’t get into the real details of why I love those things… You’ll see a little bit of a change this week… other than just actual things, I want to also share experiences and tell you some of the other stuff I love right now {movies, restaurants, classes at the gym… anything is fair game!}
Philip Kingsley Exfoliating Scalp Mask. // My hair has been so bad this winter. Dry, dead ends… and a dry, itchy scalp. I tried this mask on a whim, and was really happy with the results. No more dry scalp, in one treatment. You just apply it in sections to your scalp, wait twenty minutes, and then rinse it out. I like doubling up and applying a hydrating hair mask on my ends…. {I swear by this one.}
Earth tu Face Hydrate + Nourish. // This was a discovery from last year, but I had forgotten about it until last week when my dry skin was really acting up and I reached for the little jar. I was also really excited and happy for the brand to see that Net-a-Porter now stocks a range of their products, which are all organic + natural… developed by two herbalists in California. Putting this on at night is simply put, incredibly comforting. It smells a little bit like dessert. It’s incredibly hydrating and restorative… I’m honestly not sure that there is anything nicer you can do for your skin… especially in this weather.
Facials at The Carlyle Hotel. // Wow. Yeah, I know. Someone is getting spoiled. There are some things I shouldn’t even know about because nothing else will seem quite as nice once I’ve tried it. This was one of them. I went last weekend as a little treat courtesy of Sisley as part of the partnership we’ve been working on. (They thought it would be a nice way to better familiarize me with their products, I didn’t argue.) It was the best facial I’ve ever had, in my entire life. Besides well acquainting myself with the product line, I left pampered + glowy and more relaxed than I’ve felt in ages.
Candlelit Yoga. // I mentioned already that I’m really into YogaVida’s yoga classes. Their Sunday night candleit class (at 7pm) is a new obsession. There really is no better way to end the week. It’s a flow class so you really move + sweat, but you end the class feeling relaxed, renewed, and maybe even a little bit detoxified?
Her. // This movie is a good one. It is a little bit weird, but beautifully shot and will make you reevaluate what constitutes a relationship. Joaquin Phoenix plays a man who falls in love with his OS (operating system), who is voiced by Scarlet Johanson. Spike Jonze creates a futuristic world that actually felt pretty realistic. It was nice to see Joaquin Phoenix in a role like this – it was a total departure from the usual types of characters he plays.
I really want to see the film….I love Joaquin Phoenix….he’s such a great actor.

Never heard of candlelit yoga before this! Do you do yoga in the dark with only the light of the candles? Because that would be really interesting…I’ve always liked the dark for some reason.

Thanks for sharing all this, Grace! I’m actually doing an evening yoga class tonight (my first yoga class in YEARS!). Although I doubt it’ll be candle-lit, I’m looking forward to the relaxation 🙂
I’ve heard so many great things about Her!
I want to see Her! And I want to try all of the other things on your list….
