Are you a morning person? I am not. At all. My creativity peaks in the evenings and I love staying up late working on the blog, and the next day I’m pretty much worthless until I’ve had my morning coffee. Without it I mix up dates, names, emails… everything. My old coworkers would tease me about a) my morning forgetfulness and b) my moodiness until I’d had my coffee.
When I worked in an office, every morning I would look forward to my morning trip to the coffee shop (I love Birch!) but once I started working from home, my ritual changed to making my own coffee at home with my Nespresso VertuoLine™ Evoluo machine. There is really nothing nicer than that first hour of the day where I am sitting on my couch in my robe… coffee in hand, checking emails and making my to-do list for the day (and not speaking to anyone, even the cat).
It’s nice enough to (almost) make me a morning person.
Nespresso is super committed to delivering the highest quality (sustainable!) Grand Cru coffees to its consumers. I thought it was interesting that only 1-2% of the world’s coffee meets their quality + aroma requirements… serious stuff!
Along those lines, the brand has a (very exciting!) new face to it… George Clooney! The brand’s new TV campaign will feature George training Danny Devito in the art of good taste in an entertaining way. He’s also featured in a sustainability partnership web film where he discusses his long collaboration with the brand, its positive impact on thousands of farmers and their communities, and the work being done in South Sudan to revive high quality coffee production. You can learn more about all of that here.
Another thing I really love is that my Nespresso VertuoLine™ Evoluo machine brews both single cup coffee and Espresso. I love using the espresso to make affogato when I have friends over for dinner – it’s such a nice touch!
There is one thing I also wanted to note that not everyone knows. Nespresso actually has a great recycling program. The capsules are made from recyclable aluminum and they have three different ways to recycle them: 500 collection points around the country (Nespresso boutiques), drop-off locations at some retail partners, and a mailback program. I do this – when I order my capsules, I also get a pre-paid recycling bag and just drop the full bag off at UPS – the rest is taken care of.
This is really important to me – I’ve gotten really conscious about what I consume and the amount of waste I produce. I recycle absolutely everything I possibly can so this makes me really happy!

My mother-in-law really likes her machine. I definitively just need some kind of caffeine in the morning or I’m totally useless.

I love Nespresso! When I studied abroad in Sydney, my homestay family had one & I’ve wanted one ever since. This may be the year that I take the leap and actually splurge on one. Love that that one makes both regular coffee & expresso 🙂

Where is your couch from? It’s exactly what I’m looking for!
I just got a Nespresso for a wedding gift and I was SOOOO excited! It’s the best. I totally know what you mean about needing your coffee in the morning – and I even AM a morning person! Haha.
I have been thinking about a nespresso machine for two years and I finally bought one at the end of the summer = life changed! Do you have the milk frother, it is equally amazing and great if you like to make lattes. I love that I can easily whip up a latte in the morning before heading off to class. And even better, I am not always spending $5+ a day at a coffee shop.
Okay but on a serious note: I am still trying to figure out what flavor/kind of capsule to buy. Do you have a favorite that you suggest?
