A Big Roundup of Beautiful Blazers
You know I love a good blazer. Here in Charleston, a blazer can work in lieu of a coat (on a warmer day, at least… it was in the sixties on Saturday!). This season’s blazer is either hyper tailored (ideally in a fun color, with a matching pair of trousers, shorts, or a skirt) or loose and slouchy… perfect for pairing with straight leg denim.
Blazers are not an item in my closet that I frequently replenish. I tend to rewear the same blazers year after year. If you buy well, you will have and wear them forever. (There is an oversized pinky-brown Theory blazer I splurged on years ago that’s still my number one…I wish they’d bring it back!). You know I do love my Veronica Beard blazers, which are a solid investment if you ask me. The quality is meticulous, the styles are (most of the time at least) classic. And I have found that they hold their value pretty well on resale sites.
Price-wise, I did my best to keep the majority of the items I chose under $300. There are a lot of affordable styles out there (some good under $100 options too, all noted!), and a lot of good sales as well (also noted!).

Love the green one you are wearing! Our favorite color
We love our green!!!!
I remember how excited I was to start wearing suiting to work at my first corporate job back in the nineties in New York. My roommates and I would comb the sale racks at Century 21 for designer blazers to wear with our Ali McBeal short skirts. I think it’s so interesting now that most workplaces are casual, women are turning to blazers and suiting for fun. They do look chic and sophisticated.
Oh my gosh I know, me too! It was Ann Taylor Loft for me… I was so excited! Then I ditched the suits when I started a more casual job. And now they are back again!
Great post, thank you! I feel like in the past you’ve linked to or mentioned a few more affordable alternatives to the Veronica Beard Blazer with the dickie hoodie insert… did I imagine that? Quick search of the blog didn’t get me anywhere.
Hi Allison,
I’ve linked to to the Lioness blazer that looks very similar to the Veronica Beard but nothing with a dickey system. I believe that is their proprietary system; it would be a shame if anyone tried to knock them off!!!
Lioness blazers linked here!
