Today is my 41st birthday. Last year was a big one so we are keeping things simple and easy this year. No big party, a few small dinners with different friend groups. I am also coming off a kind of wild and crazy (at least wild and crazy for our 40-something crew!) weekend for one of my best friends’ birthdays. My boyfriend is here and we are taking a half day and getting massages and then having dinner with my parents. A nice relaxed day.
Last week, I read this quote in the James Clear newsletter and it really resonated with me, so I thought I’d share it!
“Whatever age you are today, your future self would love to be it.
Most people do not consider 65 to be a young age… but when you’re 75, you’d love to rewind to 65 and regain those years. Few people would describe 35 as your youth, but in your mid-50s your mid-30s will seem like the “young you.”
Today is a great opportunity, no matter your age. Looking back in a few years, today will seem like the time when you were young and full of potential or the moment when you could have started early or the turning point when you made a choice that benefited your future.
The moment in front of you right now is a good one. Make the most of it.”
Makes you think, right!?
PS – for a laugh, here is the post I wrote on my 31st birthday. Cringing at a lot of it but it’s fun to have a record of these things!
Happy birthday, Grace!
Happy Birthday, Grace! I also made a note of that quote last week. All I can think now is, “Seize the day!” Have a great one.
love that! thank you!
I love you are articulated aging. I will also say that now that I’m 36, there is no part of me that wants to be 26 again. I have less insecurities about my life at 36. Sure I have more wrinkles and gray hairs and less sleep (kids!), but I have deeper friendships, lots of love, and am more ok with life’s twists and turns.
Happy, happy Birthday! Wishing you all the best!
thank you! agree, no desire to be in my twenties or even early thirties again!
Happy birthday Grace, best wishes to you!
Happy Birthday! I also made note of that quote.
it’s so good!

Happy happy birthday, Grace! Enjoy the massage and low-key dinner.
Happy birthday! 41 but looking like you’re 31 😉
Happiest of birthdays! Love the quote from the newsletter and thank you for turning me on to the newsletter 🙂 One of my favorite quotes is “comparison is the thief of joy”. It applies to so many things but aging or comparison at different ages is definitely one of them for me!
Happy birthday, Grace! The day and week of celebrations you have planned sound perfect. I turned 46 in August and was talking to a friend how even 41 sounds so much younger. I will absolutely look back on 46 and think the same thing soon!
Happy birthday! It’s so fun to follow along your adventures and milestones. Thank you for sharing your growth with us readers.
Happy birthday, Grace! Hope you have a wonderful year ahead in your new house!
Happy birthday, Grace! Thanks for sharing that quote- love it!
Happy birthday Grace!! Enjoy your 40s!!!
Happy Birthday Grace! I enjoy you and your content and wish you another year of prosperity and happiness 😀
Happy birthday, Grace! Thanks for all you do, and I hope you have a relaxing, wonderful day!
Happy birthday Grace!
Happy Birthday, Grace! Your 31st birthday blog post was too cute.
Happy Birthday Grace! You look amazing! Jamie Lee Curtis posted recently, “ Aging is a privilege “. I turned 61 in August , resigned from my job and am currently taking time for me. I’ve hired a trainer, started Pilates reformer class and cut my hair short. ( about to my shoulder, layers. So much easier to take care of. It was really long!) My mantra this year is positive thoughts and transformation. I want to go into my old age , strong, fit and energetic. When I feel ready, I promised myself surf lessons. The sky is the limit! ( maybe skydiving one day?) Wishing you the best on your birthday!
Happy Birthday Grace!! I love this quote as a way to set the tone of the year ahead (but also love reading what 31 year old you thought, ha!).
Happy birthday Grace! Loved this reflection on ageing.
Missed this post earlier in the week so belated happy birthday! I LOVE the quote, and it’s making me feel so much better about turning 56 next week. Cheers to the year you’re in!
Happy Birthday! You sure don’t look your age.
