My 10 Product/5 Minute Makeup Routine.

Alright, if we are being honest this isn’t my everyday look as I don’t put makeup on every day. Usually it’s mascara, brow mascara, lip balm and a little blush. But the rest of the time I have this little routine I love. Ten products that I adore and repurchase, 5 minutes. Max. The reason I don’t usually wear face makeup isn’t because it takes too long to apply but if I’m just working from home I’d rather let my skin breathe.

Right after moisturizing I apply a thin layer of Laura Mercier’s radiance primer. I LOVE this stuff. It has light reflecting particles and I like to think that it makes whatever I apply over it look a little more dewy and radiant. I really love Laura Mercier’s products, especially her face products – the shades are really good, they wear well, and they never make me break out or irritate my skin. After primer, using my beauty blender, I apply W3LL People’s bio tint in light. I love this as it’s natural, contains SPF 30, and just makes me look really good. I used to use Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer but have been making an effort to use more clean products and this is a good natural dupe. I don’t use concealer every day but if I have dark circles or a zit I love Laura Mercier’s long wear concealer. My color is 2C. Just dot a little on wherever you need extra help. I am pretty sure the tube is going to last me the rest of my life.

For bronzer, I use Benefit Hoola. I’ve been using this since I lived in Boston (which is 12 years ago) but I haven’t found anything better. It’s a really awesome product. A little goes a long way (use a light touch!)ย  and I only need to buy this every couple years, despite using it almost daily. And for blush a newer obsession is this blush from bareMinerals in “Pretty in Pink.” This one is so natural, if I wanted to I could put it all over my face and look like I just had on an IRL rosy filter. Blush can be a little intimidating and I love this one as it’s ultra flattering and pretty on everyone. I apply bronzer everywhere (I know your not supposed to but whatever), blush to the apples of my cheeks and anywhere else that looks dull, and then I’ll swipe this NARS highlighter (in “Fort de France”) on my cheekbones, collarbone, + the bridge of my nose.

I am high maintenance about my brows. Not really but I use two products and am obsessed with darkening them. I fill in any holes or areas that are looking sparse with Benefit’s pencil and then I use Covergirl’s brow mascara (in soft brown) to groom + tint them.

Last is eyes. I don’t wear eye shadow in my day to day (too complicated, but I do have favorite eye shadows when I’m being fancy) but this $7.99 mascara is my absolute favorite right now, and I was using Bobbi Brown’s gel liner pencils but realized that this L’Oreal liner works just as well so I have been buying that instead!

There you have it. 10 products, 5 minutes! What’s your everyday beauty routine like?

Ten products in five minutes, that’s quick! I use less than five and I need half an hour because I’m SO bad with makeup (I only wear it during weekends, haha!). Thank you for sharing the routine, Grace. It seems like a great way to get ready and glammed! ๐Ÿ™‚

      So many of my favs!!

So the Covergirl mascara is the perfect Boy Brow dupe. It’s basically the same product in a bigger tube. Give it a try – I love it and actually prefer it to Boy Brow, Gimme Brow, etc etc!

Just an FYI that your Covergirl brow mascara links to this NARS product: https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/nars-highlighting-blush-powder/2918401?cm_mmc=Linkshare-_-partner-_-10-_-1&siteId=.2nGiS3mv0Y-P7GF4Ii_VQEzMIcwL6DtYw ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I may try that Covergirl one though, I’ve been looking for a Boy Brow dupe that’s a bit stronger.

Such a great post! I love the mix of “high/low” brands and price points. Definitely going to give the drugstore mascara and liner a try.

If you’re looking to switch out any of your other beauty products for cleaner alternatives, there’s a great Boston-based, female-owned store called Follain that specializes in the best of plant-based beauty. They carry brands like W3LL People, Ursa Major, Tata Harper, and RMS, plus really cool lesser-known brands. Great customer service and I love the shop’s aesthetic. She does pop-ups in NY around Christmas, too! I think you’ll appreciate their love for baths lol

Oooh that CoverGirl brow mascara sounds so good! My makeup routine is fast because I mostly try to make my skin look less blotchy but focus more on the sunscreen in the mornings. Remember to apply to sunscreen to your ears too!

Typical routine: 1) Olay SPF moisturizer or Clinique Moisture Surge 2) Avene Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen (fave sunscreen) 3) Bare Minerals mineral veil 4) Glossier Boy Brow 5) Glossier sheer lipstick
Lately because I’ve been lazy: 1) Shiseido Sports BB sunscreen 2) Boy Brow

Have you tried the Bare Minerals illuminizing mineral veil? I love it! I can’t agree more on remembering the sunscreen–my favorite is R+F reverse sunscreen. It has great coverage and gives my face a nice bright look.

        Melissa,
I noticed that you work for Rodan and Fields. It goes against my comment policy to promote MLMs like R&F. I’m sorry but please do not do this – thank you.

I also love the Laura Mercier illuminating primer, but I haven’t used it in a while because I stopped wearing foundation. I may have to pick some up again though and just wear it alone! Have you tried the Loreal Lash Paradise mascara? I love it more than the Total Temptation–I found that one a little drying and hard to remove. Lash Paradise reminds me a lot of Better than Sex mascara. Thanks for the blush rec–I’ll have to try that one!

Great selection of products…. I use Marc Jacobs Coconut Primer and then layer Dior BB Cream over that. It makes my face so dewy but gives a nice even finish. I’m lucky that I have good skin so I don’t need anything too heavy. I then use my fav Nars Orgasm Blush and GUERLAIN Terracotta Bronzing Powder. For my eyes I use Divaderme Brow Extender II on my brows and a swipe of either brown or a purple Almay eye shadow and finish it up with Marc Jacobs Lash Lifter Mascara. It seems like people either love it or hate it.. it does get a bit thick but it is literally the only non waterproof mascara I can use without getting raccoon eyes. I worry about them discontinuing it someday. This whole routine takes about 5 mins or so. It took me a long time to perfect these particular products and now I am pretty loyal.

i just started using well people bio tint and the concealer myself. since i am pregnant and had heard about their products for a while, i figured it was a good opportunity to try some cleaner stuff. i was in austin this past weekend and went by their shop and got matched. got one of the multisticks in a peachy color – looks fab on eyes wiht my blue eyes and so easy… better than as the blush actually. love the lip tint stick in the cherry shade (not sure if that is the name but it looks like something i would have used in highschool for a nice stain). omg love it!
