Self Tanning 101 (& Giveaway!)

Sisley Self Tanner

Self tanning can be a tricky, tricky beast. One foul move and you wake up with crazy streaks, charred looking elbows and knees, or worse. For the summer, I’ve partnered up with Sisley Cosmetics to share a series of beauty tips & tricks — each one, followed by an epic giveaway. I’ve been working with Sisley since this past winter and can honestly say that their products are just THE BEST. I’ve tried nearly everything now and have yet to be disappointed. I’m excited that today I get to spoil one of you… you’ll win everything featured in this post (a $746 value!)

The first tip is proper exfoliation. I like to self tan on Sunday nights. I’m not in a rush, and I’ll take a long, leisurely shower. If I have time I will dry brush beforehand… and then its scrub time in the shower. Sisley’s gentle facial buffing cream works wonders for the face. I have to be really careful what I use to exfoliate my face because my skin is pretty sensitive… but this gets the job done without any irritation. For the body, Sisley’s energizing foaming exfoliant is positively decadent. It smells like heaven – or at least the spa – with rosemary and lavender… and it foams up to a nice lather which leaves the skin exfoliated and toned.

After the shower comes the moment of truth. The actual self-tanning. I apply the tiniest bit of moisturizer to dry spots (knees, elbows, feet) as well as the palms of my hands to protect them. And then I just apply the thinnest coat possible… rubbing it in completely and then allowing my body to air dry for at least 15 minutes afterward. Wash your hands thoroughly, and if you want to do what I do, lay out a beach towel on your couch and read a book… au natural. I love that Sisley has self-tanners designed for both face and body. I used them both this past Sunday night and woke up with not a streak in sight. If you want evidence of my faux tan, you can refer to this instagram — taken the day after my evening of self tanning!

Lastly, to keep that glow going strong, there are a few little extras I recommend. My personal favorite is Sisley’s Sun Glow Gel. It’s really beautiful on… I use the tiniest amount after I moisturize – blending it in all over my face… and it leaves my skin looking extra radiant and glowy. From there, I top things off with Sisley’s bronzer (I use the lighter shade all over and then the darker one on my cheeks + down the bridge of my nose) and top things off with a coral gloss (love this one – in “precious coral”) And there you have it… effortless (looking) bronzed skin, without any of the sun damage.

But anyway, the good stuff. Now I get to give one of you all of the products mentioned above. The two exfoliants, the two self tanners, the sun glow gel, the bronzer and the gloss. The total value is $746… I mean, yeah… not bad.

Hey Laura! I know — such a pain – BUT your entry is being captured. I reached out to Rafflecopter and here’s what they said. So sorry for the inconvenience here!

      __

Earlier this morning, there has been an issue that has been causing giveaway entries that were submitted after 2am EST to essentially get stuck in a queue. From your entrant’s perspective, it would look at first as if they entered and then after refreshing the page / giveaway widget, it would seem their entries didn’t in fact go through. Entrants wouldn’t see their entries “done” as they should.

The good news is that *all entries were collected, saved, and are currently being processed*. No entries were lost. All entry submissions that were sitting in line, waiting to be tallied, are being tallied now.

We calculate all entries to be completely processed in the next 1-2 hours. At that point, things will be back to normal.

The widget is not working coz I tried 2x already and still 0 entries. Would love a nice self-tanning products since they are safer than going to tanning beds. Need a little touch of it to look great since I am so pale looking. Thank you for this giveaway.
