This weekend (despite being pretty sick with a summer plague of sorts) was just the thing. I forgot how much I love being out in the Hamptons. My friend Alex and I drove out on Friday morning. We had a yummy lunch at The Lobster Roll (famous from Showtime’s The Affair), laid in the sun a bit, and then went back to Montauk for dinner at The Crow’s Nest (my absolute favorite). On Saturday we spent the day at Hampton Racquet for her event with The Daily Front Row. Sun, rosé, and fun with friends… what’s better!? We drove home Saturday night to miss the traffic and I spent most of yesterday under a blanket reading this YA novel. So. Good. I’m so addicted that I went ahead and ordered the next two books from the trilogy. #nerd.
Anyway, clothes! I bought this dress over Memorial Day Weekend while out shopping with Kat. I was concerned that it would look a little bit too young. If you’ve been reading here for a long time then you know how much I love a good A-line dress… but I’ve been trying to go for pieces that are a bit more sophisticated. I’m in my thirties and I have a tendency to dress like a child. Still, I tried this on and just fell in love. To keep it from feeling too precious I paired it with an edgier bag + pair of heels. In the Fall, I’ll definitely be layering it under all my leather jackets.

You look amazing! Not sure I would classify this dress as looking “young” but I do love it with the edgy details.
Random, but how do you get those pictures of you crossing the street?! It seems logistically difficult and I’ve always been curious!

I’m generally not a fan of “girly” clothes but this looks fabulous on you!
PS My 3 year old loves to sit with me and look at the photos when I blogsurf, and you’re her fave! She thinks you look “so nice and so pretty” and that you have a great smile!
Might need to borrow this one! And now you are making me want to plan a Hamptons trip…
That dress is super pretty and a great color!

LOVED all your Hamptons pictures (I so want to go there and lie in the sun and eat lobster bowls).
I might be biased – as a fellow 30-something who struggles to stop dressing like a 5 year-old girl – but I adore this dress on you! Love how you’ve styled it, and it will look so chic with a beige trench or leather jacket come autumn.
Have the best weekend in Charleston!
