DIY Beaded Tassel Necklace.

DIY Beaded Tassel Necklace 1

I’m really excited about this DIY beaded tassel necklace. For one thing, it feels really good to be making jewelry again… but also, it’s just so easy! My favorite DIY projects are the ones that look fancy but are actually so easy that anyone could do them. This is one of them. The game changer is really this Etsy Shop (which sells the coolest tassels, pom poms, etc.) Erica introduced me to it while I was in San Francisco and it’s wonderful as making the actual tassels can be a lot of work.

This project is so easy (and cathartic) as you’re literally just stringing things together. Since making it, I have been wearing it with all of my white tops and dresses… I only wish I made it earlier as now we are into August and there are only a few weeks left of summer. Ah well… maybe I’ll make an all black or gold version next!

Materials:

  • Two strands of gold nugget beads (these are the exact ones)
  • 18 Silk Tassels (these are the exact ones and they are great as you can just string them onto the necklace as there is a tiny loop at the top.)
  • Fishing line or tigertail.
  • You could also use a clasp… I chose not to, as it’s long enough to loop over my head!

String on twenty gold beads (I attached my fishing line to a clipboard to make it easy!)

And then add a tassel.

Finish off by quadruple knotting the fishing line… and you’re done!

I really like that, and I think a black/gold version would be nice. I like that the necklace is made of the gold beads. This looks like something I can make…soon!

Love it. I’d like to try a kind of ombre effect. With different shades of the same color!

I used to make (and sell) jewelry in my early 20s – and I am definitely trying this – it’s a great way to use up the (giant) stash of beads an findings I have gathering dust in the back of my closet!!! It’s a great necklace!
