White Coat Syndrome.

Club Monaco Collection White Trenchcoat, Striped Tee, Rag & Bone Jeans, J.Crew Embellished Flats - Grace Atwood, The Stripe

While the title of this post is meant to be funny (and I happen to have a serious fear of doctors… I once passed out cold on the table simply because my doctor pulled out a record to see which shots I had), we’re talking about a different kind of white coat syndrome today. A great white coat is SO hard to find! I always end up looking like a doctor, or as if I’m headed to a costume party (or working behind a Clinique counter in the nineties?) I must have seen this trench in the window of my local Club Monaco five times before daring to go in. I bought it immediately after trying it on. The fit is so great and I feel so ladylike wearing it. Of course it’s now sold out online, but it’s still in stores (or at least the one on Fifth Avenue in New York).

I spent a bit of time online looking for other white coat options and found quite a few that I really love. If I hadn’t bought this one, I would 100% have bought this J.O.A. Scuba trench. The cut is fantastic and the thick neoprene fabric is really cool. I also love this white drape trench (which happens to be a great price. And while it’s expensive, I love this Tibi coat. The cut is similar to my fave Malene Birger trench, which I obviously adore… At the opposite end of the spectrum, here is a really nice looking under $100 option!

PS – We talked about Spring coats in my last email newsletter. Have you signed up?

I also need to talk to you about this tee. A little while ago, my friend Liz posted an instagram, calling it the best striped tee. I will agree with her. It’s pretty great. I love stripe tees but sometimes they’re not the most flattering (i.e. tight, clingy, not long enough, the fabric is too thin).

This one is nice as it has a good a-line silhouette (won’t cling to your stomach or hips which is a must for me) and nice and long! I also was pleasantly surprised by these ultra affordable tees from ASOS. While they are short-sleeved, they have that same swingy cut. So much more flattering than your traditional striped tee. The fabric is a bit thinner on the ASOS tees but the slouchy cut makes it okay. I went with a size small in the tee I’m wearing, and a medium in the ASOS tee.

(These flats, though…) They keep selling out but J.Crew still has plenty of the non-embellished pair. These are one of the most comfortable pairs of flats I own and I think the cut of the shoe is really beautiful. I want to get the cobalt pair next!

How does the tee run? They only have XS left, but I’m hopeful it will work for me!

Love long coats and for me if I don’t want a coat to look too plain I try to find one with contrasting coloured buttons to give it extra dimensions. Like a camel coat with black buttons. Or some sort of texture to balance it out.

Oh yeah, and I’m dying at the doctor story lmao. I hyperventilate when I have to get my blood taken so I avoid it like the plague.

I saw when Liz posted that tee on Instagram and considered buying it…now I really want it! It is so cute and I’ve been on the hunt for a good striped tee. Surprisingly hard to find.

I love everything about this look! The embellished flats and pop of pink on your lips add just enough interest to the otherwise perfectly classic look.

I keep trying to get my hands on those flats! But, alas, they are sold out again. There’s just something so much more polished about a pointed toe flat than a round one… They look even better in your pics than they do online.

The whole outfit is perfect. Absolutely love it!

I probably sound like a broken record in your comments, but you are so darn cute! LOVE this white coat on you, and that striped tee (fellow stripe addict over here) and embellished flats, *sigh*.

    Happy weekend darling!
