Today’s cocktail hour is inspired by my friend Deirdre. Besides being an amazing DJ + champagne & oyster enthusiast/connoisseur, she’s also the jewelry designer behind Candy Shop Vintage. For Christmas, she gave me this amazing charm bracelet which has all the ingredients you need to make the French 75 – champagne, gin, lemon, sugar, + the shaker and cocktail glass you serve it in! The bracelet as actually inspired in part by the famous martini charm bracelet auctioned off at Sotheby’s from Bunny Mellon’s estate. It’s become one of my favorite party pieces. I was inspired to recreate the recipe here, and though I’m not a huge gin person, I really love it – it’s refreshing and just tart enough.
- Gin (4 oz)
- Prosecco (6 oz)
- Lemon (one)
- Simple Syrup (2 Tbsp)
- Shaker (or if you don’t have one – mine broke – a big jar and a stirrer!)
Start by peeling off a few long pieces of lemon rind using a zester or paring knife.
Fill your shaker or jar with ice, and juice the whole lemon.
Add four ounces of gin.
And then 6 oz. Prosecco or Champagne.
Then add two tablespoons of simple syrup. (You can learn how to make simple syrup here.)
Allow to chill, pour into a glass with the lemon zest and serve UP!
