An Honest Neulash Review.

Neulash Review 1660

Updated 7/13/17 – be sure to check out this amazing deal on Neulash – it’s included in this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

I never like to presume that you all read here regularly, but if you do, (or if you follow my snaps), then you know that I am obsessed with eyelashes. Obsessed. I’ve tried nearly every mascara under the sun, regularly stop strangers to ask them about their own lash routines, and could probably talk about eyelashes for hours and hours. It’s a problem.

For the last few years, on and off… I had lash extensions. I had a standing appointment with Ebenezer in Koreatown, and every other Saturday morning I would pay them a visit, for what was the simultaneously the best (I love the results) and worst (but hate laying there for an hour+) part of my day. My lashes always looked amazing but it was a huge pain getting the extensions put on. Perfect lashes don’t come easy. You lay on a table as an aesthetician meticulously fills them in.. meticulously removing old extensions that had grown out and were too long, and painstakingly adding an extension to every single lash.

That being said, I loved them. What I liked most is that when I had them on, I didn’t really need to wear eye makeup, and when I woke up in the morning I felt really pretty without doing anything. But it was time consuming and expensive. (as an aside, Ebenezer is actually one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. It’s $94 the first time you go and if you get them filled within two weeks, $50 per fill. Prices go up accordingly, depending upon how much time you wait in between fills.) Also, I wanted my Saturday mornings back. So I stopped going. My wallet and bed thanked me, but my lashes didn’t. I’d coat them with as much mascara as they could hold, but it wasn’t the same.

So I decided to try a lash serum. I had tried a lot of lash serums, none of which worked particularly well. I’d heard good things about Neulash. Friends had raved about it and I knew that Julia from Gal Meets Glam used it (and her lashes are top notch). I mused about purchasing it in this post. It was your comments on that post that convinced me to take the plunge.

Neulash Review 1661

So here’s my review. It works. Really, really well. That said, you do need to be careful. There are a few important caveats that go with using this product that nobody told me, so I wanted to share them here.

  1. The results are not permanent, so once you achieve the results you’re looking for, you must continue using the product to maintain your newly long + thick lashes. Neulash works by conditioning the lashes and stopping the fall out pattern, which allows them to grow longer and makes your lashes appear thicker as there are more of them. Once you stop using the product, your lashes will resume normal fall out. So you must keep using it. This is not a big deal to me, I’ve gotten to a point where it’s just a part of my routine (I apply before brushing my teeth.) I even keep a smaller bottle in my travel bag so that I never miss a night. As long as you are disciplined, the results will continue (and get even better… I swear mine have recently started to get even longer and thicker.) It won’t kill you to miss a night or two, but consistency is important.
  2. Use as directed. The instructions say to apply it like liquid eyeliner… to the base of your lashes. It’s important to apply it really carefully. When I first started using the product, I wasn’t as careful, and then I noticed a random little lash growing a couple millimeters above the rest of my lashes. That freaked me out a little bit (but hey… it shows that the product works!) I pulled it out, and got really careful about how I applied it, and it hasn’t happened again.
  3. Don’t apply it too closely to the outer corners of your eyes. This sounds strange, but the lashes at the corner of my eyes grew so long that I experienced a lot of irritation because they were always getting stuck in the corner of my eye. It was really annoying.

Those are my only caveats. The product works exceptionally well and since using it religiously since the end of April, my lashes are much longer + thicker. I get them tinted and skip mascara most days… but if I do wear mascara, friends will ask if I got extensions again, which is probably my favorite compliment in the world.

Neulash Review 1655

There are two other lash products I swear by. For everyday use, I tint my lashes and apply a coat of Givenchy Mister Lash Booster. It gives my lashes a little extra shine + curl, and also helps with lash growth. Molly Miller from A Piece of Toast basically forced me to buy it when I visited her in Dallas (love her for it), and I’ll let you read her review of it here. The second is L’Oreal’s Miss Manga Rock Mascara. I am pretty much a drugstore mascara gal (they usually work just as good, if not better than their fancier looking counterparts) and this one is my new fave. It leaves your lashes crazy thick and super long. I call them my drag queen lashes… they’re that long and thick after using this. I do have to be careful when I apply it as my lashes get so long that they smudge if the mascara is still wet.

Also on the beauty front (albeit slightly off topic)… my favorites at Tata Harper have a big sale going on (ending tomorrow, 7/30 at midnight). Take 20% off all orders $100 and up, and for orders of $500 and up there are 3 free gift with purchases (Be Fierce lip + cheek tint, the 15ml Hydrating Floral Essence, and a 3ml Aromatic Stress Treatment). Tata’s products rarely go on sale, so this is the time to try it! (You can read more about my Tata obsession here, here, and here. I use her products almost exclusively when I’m not testing out new products to review here.)

This post is in no way sponsored, I just love the product and have been asked by a few of you to write a more formal review.

Thank you for the review! I have been using Revitalash for about a year now and was happy with the results. I just bought Neulash at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and am excited to see if the results are even better!

    • graceatwood says 7.29.15

Oooh, please let me know how it works out for you! Revitalash was actually the one that I didn’t like, so I’m curious to see how you like Neulash! xx

  6. Robin says 7.29.15

How long do you think the tube you bought will last?

    • graceatwood says 7.29.15

Hi Robin! I’m not entirely sure, but I started using my tube about four months ago and there is still plenty left! It seems like it lasts quite a while!

  7. omg thank you for the review!
lashes are my biggest thing (blonde + short), i’ve thought about it awhile but was a little nervous so i’m really excited to try!
i’ll have to really watch the application…i can see myself having lots of those little stray hairs haha

  8. Stephanie says 8.3.15

I can totally, totally relate to your lash obsession. I regularly miss out on what someone is saying because I’m transfixed (and drooling over) their amazing lashes. It just ain’t fair!
I’ve been using Latisse for a while, and it works really well and is about the same price point as this. I’m wondering if you’ve ever used Latisse, and if so, which you prefer between this serum and Latisse. Thanks!

    • graceatwood says 8.3.15

HA – so glad I’m not the only one!!!! It isn’t fair.
I have not tried Latisse, but I have blue eyes and heard about Latisse’s side effects. I also am lazy and like that I can get Neulash online vs. through a doctor. That said, one of my close girlfriends is using Latisse and her lashes look amazing! I have a feeling they both work pretty well.

  9. Lauren says 8.10.15

such a great review!! it’s always refreshing to hear (read) a really honest recommendation from someone. I’ve been hesitant to pull the trigger on NeuLash (and Lash Booster) but haven’t just yet because of the steep up front price point. I’m happy to hear it’s worked so well for you at this point and also happy from reading some of your responses to others’ comments that even though it is a little expensive the NeuLash tube has lasted you so long. Definitely sounds like it’s worth a shot to me now! Thanks so much!

    • graceatwood says 8.10.15

Thanks, Lauren! Yeah, it is definitely a steep price, but the bottle lasts so, so long. I think they say it is a 6 month supply but it lasts much much longer! I hope you try it as I really love it! xx

  10. Lori says 9.8.15

Awesome post! Do you use Neulash on both your top and bottom lashes?

  11. Serena says 6.13.16

Love your obsession with lashes! does neuLash come with the same potential pigment change side effects as Latisse? Thank you for such an informative review!!

    • graceatwood says 6.13.16

      Hi Serena,

No… it doesn’t! I did a bit of research and here’s the jist of it…

“Neulash has been ophthalmologist and dermatologist safety-tested without any known adverse side effects. Neulash is a cosmetic grade product with cosmetic approved ingredients and does not contain any prescription drugs which are known to possibly affect the color of the iris when applied directly into the eye, such as glaucoma eye drops, which is not applicable in the case of Neulash.

Hope that’s helpful. My own eyes are blue and I have not experienced any side effects after using this product for over a year. 🙂 x

  12. Raluca says 7.23.16

I recently bought the product because I am stopping lash extensions too..! I love them but they were breaking the bank! A friend of mine told me to use it twice a day, but I know the directions say once a day.. Does it really matter?

    • graceatwood says 7.24.16

I use it once a day (at night before bed) and have had great results 🙂

  13. Donna says 8.2.16

I tried Neulash and love it. It has made my lashes grow very long in just about a little over a month. The kicker is that I am (a young, I hope) 64 year old. I’m waiting for my lashes to just get a little more volume to them. I’ve even purchased a second tube just to have it on hand in case mine runs out. I,too, would recommend this product.

  14. Jewels says 8.25.16

Hi there…thank you for the great info. Do you think this works better than Latisse? Also, do you know of any product that will curl my lashes?

    Thank you!!

    • graceatwood says 8.25.16

Hi! I have never tried Latisse but am scared to as one of Latisse’s side effects is that it can change blue eyes to brown. So I have never tried it. Also, it needs to be prescribed AND it is very expensive in speaking to friends who have done it. I think both probably deliver great results, but Neulash is more convenient and less scary.

In terms of curling your lashes, do you mean like a lash perm? I have never tried that and wouldn’t want to… for me, spending 5 seconds using my lash curler works just fine!

      Hope this helps! 🙂

  15. Pepper McNutt says 12.16.16

It appears that neu Brow can also be used for lashes too. Is this true?
My instructions show how to apply for lashes and brows
Haven’t started yet, but just got it.
    Thank you?
    Pepper

  16. Samantha says 2.4.17

I’m so excited …. I got the Neulash essential kit and can’t wait…..these tips really help…. I’ll be back with results

    • graceatwood says 2.6.17

      YES! Hope you love it!!!

  17. Lucy says 3.21.17

This is great, thanks. Definitely buying after reading this. Quick question: I know they also sell a brow serum, but can I just use the lash serum on my brows too?

    • grace at the stripe says 3.21.17

I’m so glad it’s helpful! To be honest I just use the lash serum on my brows. Not sure if that is bad but it seems to work!!!

  18. Kathy Barta says 4.15.17

Is there a product for eyebrows that seriously and honestly works as well?

    • grace at the stripe says 4.17.17

I have not tried anything for brows… I think you could probably put Neulash on your brows too though! (THey make a separate product for brows but I have yet to try it).

  19. Melyssa says 4.26.17

    Hi there,
If you have sensitive eyes, does this make your eyes sting or burn? When I had mine tinted the first time, they really burned for a while.
    Thanks for the info

    • grace at the stripe says 4.28.17

My eyes are medium sensitive (nothing dramatic) and they were fine, but I am not sure!! Mine also burned when I got them tinted.

  20. Wendy wilson says 5.6.17

I used neulash when it first came out and was amazed at the results. I ordered it again recently and have been using for two months with NO results. I am very upset. I am trying to get a refund. They must have changed their formulation.

  21. karina says 7.30.17

Have you ever tried lash boost by rodan + fields? That’s the one I’m currently using, but thinking about switching.

    • grace at the stripe says 7.31.17

I have not! I’ve tried a few of their products and wasn’t really impressed by anything I tried. :-/

    • Elissa says 8.9.17

I had great results with rodan and fields lash boost serum, I have lashes that I thought I would never have and have even received compliments about my lashes, however, at this time (summer 2017) the product is on backorder so I bought neulash as a backup to maintain my long, thick lashes

  22. Soo says 9.29.17

Are you aware this product causes peri-orbital fat loss? Please look it up and do your research. Thank you!!
