DIY: Leather Cuff

DIY Leather Cuff Final

I know, I know… it has been a while since my last project over here.  I promise to be better about that in the new year.  Maybe not every week, but as often as I can.  These projects are my favorite part of this blog, but I’d been in a pretty big creative rut and all of my supplies have been packed away for months since my move.  That ends now!

I was inspired to make these leather bracelets during a trip to the craft store.  I found these amazing clasps {at New York Bead Center} and knew I needed to make some pretty leather wrap bracelets with them.  This is the sort of cuff that goes with everything.  Easy and simple.  They make a great gift, too.

DIY Leather Cuff Materials

Materials:  10mm Flat Leather Cord // E6000 Glue // Sharp Scissors // 10mm Brass Clasp*

*The clasps were a bit tricky to track down online.  Etsy had some options that would work here.  I also liked this and this, but neither are identical to the ones I used.  If you live in New York, go to NY Bead Center (on 36th + 6th Ave)

DIY Leather Cuff 1

Measure your leather by wrapping it twice around your wrist.  Wrap it tightly… the clasp will make it longer and you’ll get a perfect fit.

DIY Leather Cuff 2

Using a kebab stick, squeeze out a bit of glue.

DIY Leather Cuff 3

Use the stick to fill the end of the clasp with glue.

DIY Leather Cuff 4

Insert the cord into the clasp.  Push firmly.

Repeat on the other side and allow to dry!

I created a list of 101 things to do in 1,001 days instead of a list of new year’s resolutions. One of them? To invest in a fabulous accessory collection and start making accessories a daily part of my wardrobe. This bracelet will definitely be one of my first additions, but what other pointers do you have for building an accessory collection as a girl on a budget?
