Weekend Reading.

5

This was a bit of a crazy week, but in the best sense of the word. Thursday night was the party for the new site (photos are online here but will also be in tomorrow’s post!) and my family came to town for it, which was so nice. I’m actually a little bit sick (probably a little run down.) I woke up on Wednesday morning with a sore throat and by Friday it was a full blown cold. The worst. I’m hoping to kick it with lots of sleep, ginger fireballs…

Stripe Finds // Little discoveries you'll love

Art

Looking to add a little original art to your space? My friend Jamie at Furbish Studio recently commissioned The Aestate and Sarah Martinez to create a pop-up shop of 50 original watercolors of some of her fave things.. from evil eyes to beach umbrellas and rainbow snakes.  So. cool.

Travel

Up until more recently, I used a dingy old Burberry garment bag  to haul around my dresses or tunics when traveling. With wedding season approaching this Spring, this one (from Hudson & Bleecker) made for an excellent upgrade. So much more chic. Bonus points for the emerald green lining!

Eat

Sweethaus is worth the trip to Brooklyn. I love the decor + branding (and that it’s girly without being saccharine sweet.) Stop by and enjoy the salted caramel cupcake and a cappuccino. Also, while I haven’t tried it… I hear the “Everything Cupcake” actually is everything.

Bookworm

Leaving Time, by Jodi Picoult, is the best book I’ve read it in ages. I read it while I was on vacation and finished it within 36 hours. I just couldn’t put it down. It was beautifully written (as with all of Picoult’s books) but I learned a tremendous amount about elephants and was shaken by the ending. Go buy this one now!
