DIY: Leather + Climbing Rope Macrame Bracelets

It’s been a while since I made a bracelet that I was really excited about, which is why I had so much fun making today’s DIY project.  Stefan and I were wandering around Abbott-Kinney on our last trip to LA and I spotted some bracelets just like these in one of the boutiques.  I knew immediately that I had to make them.  The trickiest part was sourcing the end cap hook, but a quick search of Etsy remedied that.

Bracelet---Materials

Materials/Where to Buy:  Deerskin lace // Climbing Rope // End Cap with Hook

not pictured:  Lighter // Sharp Scissors

bracelet---1-6

{if steps 5 + 6 are confusing, refer to this tutorial.}

bracelet----7-10

 Be sure to press the cord ends into the ending for a solid 30 seconds to set!

    These are so cool–I love the rustic touch! They’re like the adult version of the sailor rope bracelets I used to wear in high school haha

  5. Such a great spin on those adjustable bracelets they always had at the arcade at the beach — you know, the neon-colored ones that you’d wear into the ground in elementary school summers — the leather’s the perfect way to make that look more mature!

    Great project! I love the juxtaposition of the slick climbing rope with the earthy suede lace. And great find for the cap-hook…why are such necessary heavy-duty accessory-finishing items so hard to find at retail stores? Etsy to the rescue, as always!:-)

    Hi..I looked for the end cap with a hook on Etsy, but couldn’t find it. All the end caps and hooks show two pieces, but you used just a once piece hook, right? Thanks for any help on this.

    • CAP says 1.3.14

      @jeannie

      I found the same end cap except silver at a store called Ben Franklin, maybe you could call and order, maybe even paint to make the copper color.
